"Its listed on Google so it must be important" In two seperate incidents, one via online article, and one via online radio, I've heard someone assert, "X returns over 3 million hits on Google, so that shows how popular/valid/widespread this concept is" as if typing a couple of key words into the search engine constitutes actual research. I think the guy on The Next Big Thing (NPR show) thought he was going to come across something insightful when he typed the phrase "Global Village" (and chances are he didnt use quotes either) into Google's main page, and just went "Holy cow! All these links! This is definitely proof of something!" and proceded to broadcast his "findings." anyway...
